Rode NTG1 Microphone

I have finally got my microphone having spent nearly two weeks in the custody of my halls reception, and after much pestering, it has now been properly delivered to me!
It is a rode microphone, the NTG1 to be precise. It is a directional condenser microphone which means it is designed to pick up sound in only one direction. It comes with a black foam wind shield, but I have also purchased a larger fluffy wind shield which is amusingly named a 'dead cat'. It seems to be able to eliminate wind noise completely in all wind conditions shy of a hurricane and preliminary results seem to be fairly promising... New microphone kit.
In another moment of extravagance, I purchased a boom pole complete with elastic 'shock' mount. This should enable very high quality sound to be recorded as the microphone can be held close to the actors. It also looks rather cool and professional! It does mean that making films now requires extra people but to be honest thats no bad thing!
The microphone itself is very awesome. Its manufactured from high quality materials and the aluminum body fills you with confidence. The sound quality is very impressive. It picks up all ranges well. There is a slight colouring to the sound apparently but without another mic to test against, I couldn't tell!
I intend to post some sound samples soon! Also, look out for a new film called 'Canned Music' hopefully to be filmed after Christmas...
